Summary

The recent history of Greek shipping has two milestone dates.

The first is 16/7/1774 with the signing of the "Kyurchuk Kainartzi" treaty, where the right to use the Russian flag by Greek shipowners, as well as the construction of ships of large displacement, was legally guaranteed.

The second is 7/1/1947 when the concession of 98 Liberty ships from America to Greece was signed, a fact that contributed to its revival.

Liberty ships supported the Greek economy and the Greek shipbuilding industry. These ships were credited not only with saving the British, but with saving the Allies and the entire world.

It is a story that should not be forgotten.
